Ratchet & Clank – Surpise Fave of 2016
I do remember the original Ratchet & Clank back in the day, but when I was younger it was a game I was really into. It was aimed at gamers a lot younger than me, back then in my late teens/ early 20’s all you wanted was games with violence, action and awesome graphics.
When I heard they were rebooting the game to go in hand with the franchise I’d thought I’d give this a go. Boy I’m glad I did! The game with it’s story is essentially a retelling on new hardware which can do the franchise justice.
Graphics: Now for me I’m pretty spoilt as do play a lot of my games on PC, so I can take advantage of the superior hardware specs. With that said for me, Ratchet & Clank is one of the most prettiest and colourful games I’ve played on the PS4. The developers have done a great job of making use of the limited power the PS4 does have and made this game look gorgeous. All the areas look highly detailed and the frame rate never seems to drops even in busy areas.
Story: Basically the story is just a retelling of the original story, Ratchet & Clank find themselves in the midst of an intergalactic mission to save the galaxy from the hands of Chairman Drek. While the remaster is very similar to the original it does seem to tie this into the movie which was released just a short while after.
Gameplay: Now i know this game is aimed at kids, but the developers definitely have put some time and effort into tying up all the weaponry to work with the game. The levels are well designed and give you the good the opportunity to use these to their full potential. The choice of weapons are far and wide. Give it a short while and you’ll find your favourites which then can be upgraded to make them even more lethal.
