FIFA15 Demo Thoughts
Like most avid football fans (or Soccer for my American followers) I was intrigued to see what progress has been made in the next Fifa installment.
Fifa 14 on the PS4 did feel a bit of a rushed job, physics were inaccurate, referee decisions were totally incorrect due to how the collision detection engine works and they still hadnt fixed how the game detects offside.
Last week the new Fifa 15 demo came out hoping to address these errors and give the PS4 users the version they were longing for. The Demo throws you straight into a match between Liverpool and Manchester City. Being a life-long Manchester United fan this was a difficult decision, which team do I pick when I despise both he he. Ultimately I went with what the game had defaulted me to and played this first match with Liverpool.
Immediately the difference is gameplay was there. Ball control was more realistic to what you would see in the Premier League. First time ball control was also vastly improved allowing you to knock on incoming passes further into space thus allowing you to run onto them and beat your opponent.
As well as the improvements to on the ball control, defneding has been improved. Over this installment to the previous Fifa game tackling does seem to be easier; but that doesn’t necessarily make defending any easier. The AI players now seem to have more of a football brain about them. They are more willing to press in numbers and help out defenders when they think 1 on 1 challenges might fail.
Talking of improved intelligence, the keepers this time have been vastly improved. Peter Cech is honestly a nightmare to score against on this game and you have to pull out something realy special to beat him. EA have improved the animations for keepers to make the look more life like with the saves they make. This also means that sometimes the keepers attempts to save the ball may end up in him making a mistake and the ball ricochets
into the back of his own net.
To further improve the accuracy of Fifa 15, EA have realised the biggest football league in the world, the Premier League needs a proper presence worthy of its reputation. As such they have extensively and accurately modelled every football ground that is in the premier league and also the players that bestow it. All in all this version of Fifa will be the most in-depth version for fans of the Barclays Premier League and as such some will go on to say the best version of Fifa yet.
